Early morning stroll

Click to enlargeWhile Sydney-siders were sipping on their morning Boost-Juice, complaining about the heat, we were embarking on an early morning strole up to 2,000 meters to Triond – the snowy viewpoint of the Dhauladhar mountain range.

Obviously the 4am starts during our 10-day meditation retreat didn't have any impact! Our goal was to reach Triond and then Snow Line by mid morning so a clear panoramic view of the Dhauladhar range was possible.

Mountain shacks selling chai (tea) greeted us along the way as we hiked up...up...up the mountain. The tea house at Triond offered our favourite - ginger-lemon-honey-tea, and view of the magnificent white peaks. 'WOW' we thought - Wonderful, Outstanding, and (very very) White!

A further 1.5 hour walk in the snow proved not to be such a walk in the park. Icy steps and knee deep snow kept us on our toes... and heels. Buddhist prayer flags lined the trees and a cup of hot chai awaited us at Snow Line Cafe - full marks for choice of location!

From the freezing cold of the Himalayas one day to the steamy heat of the Indian desert the next. This country certainly is diverse in its beauty.

Guess hiking 2,000 metres up the mountain must have kept you warm as you are dressed in t-shirts walking in the snow. What fabulous photos and scenery!
I am glad to report that Sydney weather has cooled down today from the 38 degree heat we had a few days ago.

Hugs for you both Danielle & Justin. xx

We've discovered the law of biology... overheating leads to sweating and sweating leads to an icy back, so T-shirts all the way we say!

Getting really homesick for the hot Sydney summer and early morning runs/swims on Manly beach.
